Jury Service

Jury Service is Incredibly
Important
If you receive a jury service notice,
please show up. Our jury system
separates our system of justice from
most others in the world.
If we fail to protect it -- which includes
you and other prospective jurors
showing up when you receive a jury
service notice -- those who fear a jury of
their peers will continue to whittle away
at it with arguments for special courts
without juries, for arbitration systems
without juries, and other systems which
limit your rights.
I have yet to have a juror on one of my
cases say after the trial that she or he
regretted their service, and to a person,
they were glad they had the opportunity
to serve.
Harris County District and
County Court Jury Service
The jury assembly building is located at
1201 Congress, Houston, Texas 77002.
The entrance is a glass structure in the
middle of a one block park area -- the
assembly area is below ground and
connects to the different courthouses by
tunnel.
The Harris County District Clerk’s website
is helpful for rescheduling your service, if
needed, and for providing other useful
information.
Jury Service in Other
Courts
Other opportunities to serve on a jury
can include:
-- justice of the peace court in the
precinct where you live
-- municipal court if you live within
the limits of a city or town
-- federal court, which in this area is
held in Houston and Galveston
